After being on the waiting list for weeks at my local library, I finally got my hands on The Elite by Kiera Cass, the second book in The Selection Series. As I mentioned in my post about The Selection, the storyline is a cross between Cinderella and The Bachelor.
America Singer, a poor girl from the lower end of the totem pole has entered into a competition to win the hand of Prince Maxon, soon to be King of Illea. In the second book here, the girls have been narrowed down to the final six and America has Maxon’s heart… if only she could decide if she wants it. She’s caught in a classic love triangle scenario in which one minute she loves the Prince and the next she still loves her best friend Aspen from back home. As finalists are eliminated one by one, America needs to figure out which man she wants before she gets eliminated and the decision is made for her.
This book was FANTASTIC!… as good, if not better, than the first. My only regret about this book is that I didn’t know the next one doesn’t come out until MAY 2014 and I read it all in 24 hours. Had I known The One’s release date was that far out, I would have savored The Elite a little more, rationed it out to tide me over. 10 out of 10 (how can you not when you read it in a day?!?)
